Physical copies of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time are already discounted at the likes of Amazon and Walmart. There's a $10 discount at both major retailers in the US, bringing the game down to $59.88 instead of $69.99.
Preorders for Ocarina of Time went live this week (with much fanfare), and there's a jolly good reason everyone is so excited about it. It looks stunning!
But what's the deal with the immediate $10 discount at the likes of Amazon and Walmart? Well, it's actually fairly simple. As is Nintendo's custom for this console generation, the MSRP for the game is $59.99 for digital copies and $69.99 for physical copies.
But to encourage fans to buy physical games via their online storefronts, Amazon and Walmart have been fairly consistent at knocking prices down to match or even beat the digital price.
That's consistent for other Switch 2 exclusives such as Star Fox, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, and Switch Sports Resort, to name a few. But it's important to note that once the game is released, the price goes back up. So this is purely an incentive to preorder games.
So that's the deal! Plus, there's an even better reason to own The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as a physical copy as well. Nintendo also announced that the first printing of physical copies of the game would include "textured foil cover art"... but only available while supplies last!
Plus, for what it's worth, for physical copies, the complete full game comes on the cartridge. No game key card.
Therefore, if you're down for a shiny textured foil cover for the game, which is limited edition, then your best bet is to preorder with Amazon or Walmart, and lock down your copy ASAP.
Plus, as a reminder, Amazon's preorder price guarantee means you don't have to pay for the game until it ships, and if there are any further price drops, you'll pay the lowest price possible (even if it goes back up in price before release day on November 5, 2026).
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake launches for Switch 2, November 5, 2026. It'll have more than redone load screens when it arrives, with players also still coming to grips with the wild changes Nintendo made to the game's visuals.
