Just Cause studio's canned dragon-riding fantasy romp AionGuard "would have been Crimson Desert", reckons former Avalanche creative head
Back in the late 2000s, Just Cause developers Avalanche ended up in a publishing pickle with a fantasy open-worlder they were working on. Frostpunk 2 is, by its very name, a cold game. That's its whole shtick, that the world is covered by an apocalyptic blizzard, and it's on you to figure out how to keep your city running amongst the harsh conditions. If you have been keeping a candle lit for State Of Decay 3 since its 2020 reveal trailer purely for the prospect of fighting a zombie deer then, I'm afraid, it's time to blow that candle out. Apparently, the CGI reveal trailer was made when the open-world zombie survival game was barely a concept.
